At MIPH in the new year of 2012, look for some exciting changes. We are part of a re-organization such that MIPH will be re-positioned to be even more of a leader in the era of Prevention and Wellness emphasis in the brave new world of Health Reform. The Affordable Care Act represents opportunity for those of us in prevention.

We will get more specific soon, but we wanted you our supporters, friends, clients and colleagues to know we are re-positioning the Institute in a way that maximizes our chance of being of service.

Sometimes new directions happen simply because they make sense. While legislation directs the effort, economy, justice, and civics add to that fact that an educated and prevention-minded society is the right thing to do.

I note the American Public Health Association has its 140^th annual conference at the end of October 2012 in San Francisco, and it's chosen theme this year is "Prevention and Wellness Across the Lifespan".

Those of us in prevention and wellness have a once in a lifetime opportunity to advance our goals in an era of health reform that embraces it.
