Life’s Rich Pageantry
by Jerry Jaker
Like most places, MIPH began 2009 with a mixture of hope for the future, confidence from our past work, worry about an awful economy, and realization of what we could influence in our world of health improvement.
What a year! New President Barack Obama.
- hard fought and captured CAPT/RET grant
- Service to State of Minnesota: MPRC, RPC, ZAP, Epi, SHIP
- Evaluation services
- Cultural competence training/technical assistance
- Social media trainings for nonprofits/coalitions
- New areas: Service to Science Academy, MEI, Twin Cities Hunger, Suicide, and immunizations
- PHA Division Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota
- Giving: Meals on Wheels, Feed My Starving Children, food/coat drives, support to shelters
Emerging battle-worn, but strong.
Low attrition, slight staffing addition.
And - I can't resist - in the larger world:
- flu season . . . sneeze!
- Tiger . . . jeez!
- Sueli (Octomom) . . . sheez!
- Jonas Brothers . . . pullease!
- Sully (US Airways) . . . more of these!
All is to say, MIPH remains proud and honored to contribute to Life's Rich Pageantry. On we go. Happy New Year, everyone.
