Every Student Connected: Prevention of, Preparation for, and Response to School Safety Threats
Friday, March 26 8:00-12:00.
Ensuring a safe, secure school climate is critical to enhancing student school connectedness. Potentially threatening situations or behaviors can leave adults unsure about how to best respond. This workshop will show how schools can use an assessment process to address potential threats, share findings from the Safe School Initiative’s national study on targeted school violence, and provide tools and strategies for keeping schools safe.

- Myths versus realities of targeted school violence
- Latest research on the role of bystanders
- Positive school climate as a prevention strategy
- Methods for addressing imminent threats to school environments
