From the Director

Over the past four years the Minnesota Department of Human Services has been developing a fee-for-service system to provide treatment services to problem and compulsive gamblers and their families throughout Minnesota. As of July 1, 2001, 58 providers have been certified to provide these services. A list of these providers has been included on pages 3 and 4 of this edition of Beyond the Odds.

In addition to the fee-for-service providers, there are 58 Gamblers Anonymous meetings and 18 GamAnon meetings that meet weekly, inpatient and outpatient treatment centers, individual gambling counselors and financial and legal services located throughout the state. Information on all of these services can be accessed by calling the Minnesota Problem Gambling Help-line at 1-800-437-3641.

The services identified above represent a developing capacity by the state to respond to the needs of problem gamblers and their families. We are fortunate to have this number of services and resources available.
