Publication Addresses Pathological Gambling and Chemical Dependancy

Pathological Gambling & Chemical Dependency was written by Sandra Brustuen and Gregory Gabriel of Project Turnabout/Vanguard to assist the chemical dependency professional and others to better understand the similarities between chemical dependency and pathological gambling as well as the unique characteristics of pathological gambling.

Pathological gambling is a treatable disorder; however, it has been underdiagnosed by professionals who do not think to ask about it." (Rosenthal 1992). As gambling problems increase, it is clear that professionals will need to ask diagnostic and assessment questions about pathological gambling.

The booklet is also appropriate for family members of individuals with a dual disorder. Please call the Minnesota Compulsive Gambling Hotline at 1-800-437-3641 to obtain a copy.
