Training Opportunities

Gambling Intervention Services

Gamblers Intervention Services (GIS) will sponsor a series of New Wave Training seminars this summer and fall. The training is split into Part I and Part II. Each part consists of 30 hours of training in areas of compulsive gambling and treatment options. Part I satisfies the American Compulsive Gambling Counselor

Certification Boards core area requirements. Part I and II satisfies both the National Compulsive Gambling Counselor Certification Board 60 hour core requirements and the equivalency criteria established by the State of Minnesota leading to certification as a Gambling Counselor.

North American Training Institute

The North American Training Institute (NATI), a division of the Minnesota Council on Compulsive Gambling, Inc., presents Counseling the Compulsive Gambler: Phase I & Phase II seminars.

With completion of Phase I and II and payment of a fee, participants may apply for undergraduate or graduate credits in Behavioral Science from the University of Minnesota, Duluth School of Medicine. In general, this curriculum meets or exceeds the standards established for continuing education required by other certifying organizations and holds a variety of national accreditations.
