Project Turnabout/Vanguard celebrates opening of new facilities

Just one year after the official groundbreaking ceremony, more than 550 local and area residents, contributors and government officials joined the Board of Directors and staff of Project Turnabout/Vanguard in Granite Falls on Sunday, August 29 to celebrate the completion of the nonprofit organization's building project.

Completion of the building project has allowed the Board to address four main issues: improving privacy for clients; providing indoor recreational space; improving overall space to better serve people; and moving the Vanguard Compulsive Gambling Treatment Program on the campus. Since it began in 1990, the Vanguard Program has moved several times and residents were previously housed in a motel owned by Project Turnabout. With the move to its new facility, the Vanguard Program is unique and one of a kind in Minnesota. It is a model program serving clients from throughout the country. With its own trained staff, client living quarters and program space all located in one building, clients and their families are treated separately from other addictions. The new center offers 10 double occupancy apartment style living with one handicap accessible. The rooms are well lit and beautifully decorated with space for relaxing and studying.
