How was the Survey Developed

For decades, prevention professionals have worked with communities with the goal of preventing alcohol, tobacco, other drug (ATOD) use and problem gambling issues among young people and adults. Programs would succeed in one community, yet fail in another. Professionals realized the need to assess communities prior to selecting programs. The purpose of the Community Readiness Survey is to assess attitudes of residents to ascertain their level of readiness for prevention services regarding alcohol, tobacco, other drug use and problem gambling.
